EUROPEAN CUP SERIES 2024 COMES TO A CLOSE IN GENOVA, ITALY

Bulgaria and Slovakia won gold at the final event of the season.

The final event of the IFSC European Cup Series 2024 concluded in Genova, Italy, with the last Boulder competition of the year. Over 100 athletes from across Europe participated in the final event of the season.

In the men’s final, climbers fought through a challenging round, as Slav Kirov of Bulgaria ended up being the only one topping a boulder and earned the top spot on the podium. Alongside him, Thorben Perry Bloem of Germany placed second with four zones, and Antoine Girard of France finished third with three zones.

In the women’s Boulder final, instead, the top two climbers solved all four problems: Martina Buršíková of Slovakia delivered an outstanding performance by flashing three of them and securing the gold medal. In close second came Italy’s Irina Daziano, while Germany’s Roxana Wienand completed the podium in third place.

With the conclusion of the Genova Boulder Cup, the 2024 European climbing season officially comes to an end. This year saw a total of 17 events in all disciplines, both in youth and adults.

Each event brought its own unique excitement, local organization, and atmosphere. It was a well-rounded season with its peak in the European Championships in Villars, Switzerland, and the Youth Championships in Troyes, France.

With this event closing the season, it’s clear that European climbing continues to grow, both in popularity and in the level of competition. While this may be the end of this year’s events, the anticipation for the 2025 season is already building, as more and more athletes will participate and continue to push the sport even further.

All European events are available on-demand on the IFSC Europe YouTube channel.

News and updates about all IFSC events will be available on the IFSC website, and on the Federation’s digital channels: Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and exclusively for the Chinese audience, Douyin and Weibo.
