The origin of Perfect Descent was a direct response to the massive recall of the Redpoint Descender that rocked the Climbing wall industry in 2009. With the manufacturer of Redpoint opting to exit the gym market rather than update the devices, and operators were left with no options to recoup their investment, Perfect Descent stepped forward to provide a solution that allowed recalled Redpoint Descenders to be put back in service under the Perfect Descent brand.

While today’s Perfect Descent auto belays bear little in common with the original Redpoint Descender, Perfect Descent's drive to provide operators with effective and cost saving solutions has only grown stronger. Hand-built in the USA from high-quality materials and components, Perfect Descent auto belays are lightweight, compact, and easy to use and maintain, while saving Climbing gym operators time and money. Perfect Descent is the ideal tool for getting the most from indoor training sessions and gives climbers of all ability levels the freedom to climb when they want and how they want.

As the Auto Belay Sole Supplier of the IFSC, Perfect Descent have provided and still provide valuable support to World Cups and Championships, Continental events, as well as to athletes, teams, local organisers, and National Federations. Following the inclusion of Climbing in the Olympic Games sports programme, Perfect Descent provided auto belays for Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
