YOUTH CHAMPION ABRIAT TAKES GOLD IN THE WOMEN’S FINAL

Lily Abriat of France claimed the gold medal in the women’s Boulder event with 74.9 points. The 2024 Youth world champion flashed two boulders and topped one more, climbing with focus and confidence to earn her first senior win, and improving on her fourth-place finish in Munich.

Abriat said: "I was very disappointed after Munich, so I really wanted to win this one! And sometimes, you forget to just climb! The semi-final was very hard for me, but during the final, I got back into it. I kept it simple. I climbed with the desire to do the boulders, and it’s amazing when it works! I’m so happy!"

Italy's uprising star Stella Giacani secured the silver medal and her first European podium with 69.6 points after a strong performance in front of her home crowd. Lucile Saurel of France took bronze with 59.8 points and an impressive flash on W4.

FRANCE DOMINATES THE MEN’S EVENT

An outstanding performance by the French team led to a French podium sweep in the men's final. Léo Favot, a gold medalist at the European Cup Klagenfurt 2024, and bronze medal winner at last month’s event in Munich, Germany, won the gold medal with 69.8 points, delivering a strong performance in the final round with two tops.

Favot said about his performance and the upcoming weeks: "I felt good in the final, not like the semi-final. This round was really good, when we made the observation all boulders looked cool, and it was a round like we expected. I am happy to send and top the boulders I did, I wanted to do the last one also, I was close but didn't make it. It was a really good competition. I will go to the first World Cup in China, I need to make good results and see what is coming for the rest of the season."

Joining Favot on the podium were his teammates Antoine Girard, who put up a great fight until the very end and finished just 0.2 points behind Favot, and Noé Moutault, who secured the bronze with 59.9 points.
