The showpiece Climbing event will return to Europe in 2027
The 2027 IFSC Climbing and Para Climbing World Championships will be held in the Czech city of Brno.
Following a presentation made to the IFSC General Assembly in Larnaca, Cyprus, the hosts were confirmed with a 53.25% majority by the delegates in favour of the Czech bid.
Presented by Czech Federation President Jan Bloudek and Sport Director Vojtěch Albrecht, the venue is set to be the newly built Arena Brno, a state-of-the art multifunctional arena in the second largest Czech city.
Organised by the Czech National Federation, it means the 2027 Championships will return to Europe following the upcoming 2025 event in Seoul, South Korea later in the year, and the successful Olympic qualifying Bern 2023 event.
Czechia has hosted World Cups in recent times with Prague the destination for the past two years and also set for a third successive event in 2025, and Brno was one of the hosts during the very first IFSC World Cup season in 2007.
The Brno bid was chosen ahead of a bid from Beijing, China, also a World Cup venue in 2007 and current Series hosts.
Dates for the championships will be confirmed in due course and will be announced when confirmed.
