A NEW OLYMPIC CYCLE BEGINS: IFSC PRESENTS THE CLIMBING WORLD CUPS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS OF 2025

Kicking off in April and closing in September, the season features 12 World Cup events and two Championships.

The IFSC is glad to announce the calendar of Climbing events for the upcoming 2025 season, including 12 World Cups and two Championships.

The season opener is expected to take place in Keqiao, China, for the second consecutive year, followed once again by a combination of Lead and Speed competitions in Wujiang, China, a few days later.

Three new locations are set to make their first appearance on the IFSC calendar: Curitiba, Brazil, hosting the first-ever IFSC World Cup event in South America; a still-to-be-defined city in Poland, where the home team will most likely be headlined by Paris 2024 women’s Speed gold medallist Aleksandra Miroslaw; and Klagenfurt, Austria, set to welcome the fastest Speed climbers in the world at the end of July.

Making its long-awaited return to the World Cup Series calendar is Bern, Switzerland, host city of last year’s Climbing and Para Climbing World Championships, and location of an IFSC World Cup event back in September 2008.

The 19th edition of the IFSC World Championships, taking place in Seoul, South Korea, from 21 to 28 September, will be the closing Climbing show of the season, bringing the IFSC flagship event back to Asia six years after Hachioji 2019.

On the other hand, the yearly IFSC Youth World Championships will return to Europe for the first time in four years, gathering the future of the sport in Helsinki, Finland, between late July and early August.

The calendar of Climbing World Cups and Championships in 2025 is as follows:

Six medal events in total will be contested in the Speed discipline: men’s and women’s Speed 2-lane, men’s and women’s Speed relay, and men’s and women’s Speed 4-lane – making its official debut in Chengdu.
