CITY OF TORINO TO WELCOME IFSC’S NEW HOME

The Italian city has been the Federation's home from its inception.

The IFSC is set to have new headquarters in Torino, Italy after a project was approved to renovate and rejuvenate a building in the San Donato-Campidoglio district of the Olympic city.

Approval of the project was confirmed in a vote during the last meeting of the City Council of the City of Torino, meaning the International Federation will remain in the northern Italian city which has been its home since its creation in 2007.

Purchased by the IFSC, the project has been through months of protocols due to the special regulations concerning historical buildings built before World War II, but now has been given the green light with permits approved by the City Council.

The news was immediately picked up and widely reported in the national press since the building in Corso Tassoni will be confirmed as one of only two operational headquarters of a summer Olympic sport in Italy, together with World Skate who are based in Rome.

While the IFSC maintains a shared office in Lausanne and the legal seat also remains in Switzerland, in Bern, the new headquarters in Torino will host the staff and all the daily operational activities of the Federation.

IFSC General Director Piero Rebaudengo said: “As our sport has grown, the number of IFSC staff has also, so we have needed to relocate our office to somewhere bigger for some time. For our staff and our members.

“Being in Torino since the beginning we wanted to stay in the Olympic city, and with our new building we believe we will add value not only to the IFSC, but to the city we have called home since 2007.

“It is an ambitious project taking on a building with such history, but it is a worthwhile one. We will have a place both the IFSC and the City of Torino can be proud of. We have over 100 Member Federations around the world, and the new headquarters will be a place to welcome them all.”
