IFSC CLIMBING WORLD CUP KEQIAO 2025: FACTS AND STATS

For the second consecutive season, the season opener of the Climbing World Cup Series takes place at the Keqiao Yangshan Climbing Center.

The IFSC World Cup Keqiao 2025 is the 404th Climbing World Cup event in history, featuring the 154th Boulder World Cup competition. Also, it is the 42nd Climbing World Cup held in China. Only France and Italy have hosted more.

Two-time Olympic champion Janja Garnbret of Slovenia will be the only medallist from Keqiao 2024 not returing to compete at the Keqiao Yangshan Climbing Center. Both Camilla Moroni of Italy and Luo Zhilu of China – respectivley silver and bronze medallists at last year’s event – are registered to compete in Keqiao.

Last year’s full men’s podium is also expected to return, with experienced Japanese climber Narasaki Tomoa joined by Paris 2024 silver medallist Anraku Sorato, and Belgium’s Hannes Van Duysen.

ATHLETES’ HIGHLIGHTS

A total of 132 athletes, 61 women and 71 men, are registered to compete, travelling from 29 countries and territories in four continents.

Along with the home team, which will enlist 13 climbers, the biggest contingent will be the Japanese one with 12 athletes, followed by Team Germany with 11 and Team USA with 10.

Japan’s Nonaka Miho is the most experienced climber in the women’s event, starting in her 52nd Boulder competition. On the other hand, her teammate Narasaki Tomoa is the most experienced climber in the men’s event, ready to compete in his 54th Boulder World Cup.

THE PROGRAMME

The IFSC Climbing World Cup Keqiao 2025 will kick off tomorrow, Friday, 18 April with the two Boulder qualification rounds. Women are taking on the wall starting at 9:00 (UTC+8:00), while men will start at 16:00.
