The inclusion will be ratified next April, at the XXII IFSC General Assembly.
The IFSC Executive Board met on 15 January and voted for the inclusion of the Iraqi Climbing Federation (ICF) as the 101st member of the organisation – the 29th in Asia.
The decision was communicated with an official letter signed by IFSC Secretary General Debra Gawrych and directed to ICF President Riyadh Abdulabbas Atiyah Alzuabidi.
“I wish to congratulate you for your efforts in promoting our sport, and I look forward to our fruitful cooperation to develop Climbing in Iraq,” said Gawrych in the letter.
The inclusion will be ratified by the XXII IFSC General Assembly, taking place in Larnaca, Cyprus, on 11 and 12 April 2025. Following the ratification, the voting rights of the ICF will come into effect.
