MEN’S BOULDER

Mejdi Schalck, also of France, won his third World Cup medal out of three competitions in 2023, placing third in Prague and adding a bronze to the two golds he secured in Hachioji, Japan; and Seoul, South Korea. Despite missing the third competition of the season, Schalck is still at the top of the men’s Boulder ranking with 2690 points. On the other hand, The winner of the third competition of the season in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA – Japan’s Narasaki Tomoa – follows in second with 2505.

Lee jumps in the top three thanks to his first-ever gold, and places himself in from if Belgium’s Hannes Van Duysen and Japan’s Anraku Sorato. Lee has 2080 points, while Van Duysen and Anraku respectively has 1860 and 1857.

WOMEN’S BOULDER

Taking advantage from the absence of US climber Brooke Raboutou in Prague, Bertone jumped into first place in the women’s Boulder World Cup ranking, where she sits with 2649 points, but already declared she will not compete at the two remaining Boulder competitions in 2023, in Brixen, Italy; and Innsbruck, Austria.With a three-medal tally in the first three events of the season, Raboutou keeps second place with 2380 points, while Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Nonaka Miho of Japan follows in third with 2315.

The winner of the women’s Boulder season in 2021 and 2022, Natalia Grossman, is placed fourth with 1722 points. The top five is completed by Matsufuji Anon of Japan with 1412 points.

WORLD RANKINGS

At the top of the two Boulder World Rankings are Narasaki Tomoa and Natalia Grossman , with 3722 and 3615 points respectively. Slovenians Luka Potocar and Janja Garnbret are the leaders of the men’s and women’s Lead World Rankings, and they are both on their way to participate in the opening Lead competition of the season – in Innsbruck, Austria. Potocar has 3860 points, Garnbret 5805.

Two teammates are also at the top of the Speed World Rankings: indeed, Chinese climbers Long Jinbao and Deng Lijuan are making the most of out their consistency, placing first with 4365 and 4845 points.

Finally, Germany’s Yannick Flohé and USA’s Colin Duffy are in joint first place in the men’s Boulder & Lead World Ranking – both with 4000 points – while the women’s one is ruled by Grossman with 5185 points

The next IFSC World Cup events are scheduled to take place in Brixen, Italy, from 9 to 11 June; and Innsbruck, from 14 to 18 June.
