Sport Equipment
Launched in May 2018, the IFSC Official Sport Equipment Catalogue is an initiative which aims at making the field of play as fair as possible across all IFSC events. IFSC events will use only products included in the IFSC Official Sport Equipment Catalogue, ensuring the same experience to all stakeholders: athletes, Member Federations, Event Organisers, Officials, and Routesetters.
Holds, Macros, and Volumes
The Federation first released the Catalogue T20: Official Holds, Macros, and Volumes for Sport Climbing Events at the Olympic Games, in late 2019.
In September 2023, then, the IFSC released the P24 Online Catalogue: Holds, Macros, and Volumes for Sport Climbing events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, to deliver the highest quality sport equipment and promote fairness among stakeholders. The selected materials from the P24 brands will be used at the Olympic Games and Olympic Qualifier Series Shanghai 2024.
- P24 Holds: Cheeta, eXpression Holds, Flathold, Squadra;
- P24 Macros: 360 Holds, Cheeta, Flathold, Rockcity;
- P24 Volumes: Blocz, Cheeta, Squadra.
Finally, in January 2024, the IFSC published Catalogue S24: Holds, Macros, and Volumes for Sport Climbing events at the Olympic Qualifier Series Budapest 2024.
- S24 Holds: Agripp, Grizzly, Kilter, Rockcity;
- S24 Macros: Blue Pill, eXpression Holds, Squadra, Xcult;
- S24 Volumes: EP Climbing, eXpression Holds, Rockcity.
Speed
The IFSC has created strict regulations for Speed Climbing competitions, defining high standards for four equipment items: walls, holds, automatic timing systems, and automatic belaying systems.
Walls
At all IFSC events, the Speed wall shall be built by one of the following Recognised Speed Wall Manufacturers: EP Climbing, Aolifeng, Climb Korea, Discovery, Geckoking, Sint Roc, Tosho, and Walltopia.
Holds
Speed holds are a piece of essential equipment that is necessary for the setting of new Speed world records. IFSC-recognised Speed holds are produced by the following companies: Volx, Geckoking, and Climb Korea.
Until the end of 2024, the only IFSC Recognised Speed Holds which will be used on IFSC competitions are produced by Volx.
Automatic Belaying Systems
The recognised provider of all automatic belaying systems at IFSC events is Perfect Descent, and the model currently in use is the Speed Drive-Perfect Descent 230.
Automatic Timing Systems
There are three IFSC Recognised Speed Automatic Timing System in use at IFSC events:
- Deepron SCEV-2, produced by Deepron;
- TS-S5, produced by Shenzhen Zhengshi Technology; and
- Swiss Timing Speed Climbing System, produced by Swiss Timing –and not available for sale.
